Summer Break

Well, summer break is almost over and it’s about time to get back to racing. Our last race was back on July 7th so we’re eager to get back out there.

We’ve been busy though. We’ve had some fuel delivery issues on the 10s, some speed issues on the 07, and we even converted a 600 Micro into a Junior Sprint so Keegan could drive in a race while he was visiting for the summer. Three cars may be slightly too much for the pit crew until he figures out what he is doing.

Anyways, we started out the morning of August 12th like any other race day, the cars were both running fine here at the house. Thanks to Bill and the crew at Rockfish Speedway for opening the track up for a practice session on the short track prior to next weeks short track shootout. However, the day started like any other race day and turned into one because sure enough we had car troubles as soon as we got to the track.

The 07 of Alanna B., which was newly updated with gearing and torque converter components to try and solve the speed issue, had a hard pull and then no compression. Fortunately we have a spare motor just for this inevitability, hopefully the motor swap works correctly the first time because race day is the 18th, and we won’t get to test it out. The motor is on and the car is running so we’ll be ready for the Short Track Shootout this upcoming Saturday.

On the bright side, the 10s of Siobhan B. did run correctly at the practice after changing the fuel tank location and setup. The pit crew is cautiously optimistic it’ll run right two weeks in a row. That said, the car ran well and Siobhan drove it fast. She got in three sessions during practice and got quicker every time. It was her first time driving the short track and the way she handled it just makes us all the more excited to see her continue to surprise and impress us. She is quite the natural.

We’re proud of both of both of them, they’re doing an excellent job so far, despite their pit crew’s lack of consistency 🙂

They’re both in a new class of racing and it’s Siobhan’s first year so for them to be doing so well is an impressive feat.
