Updates

Sorry its been a while…

I actually moved up a class and now I’m in the 270 class. It’s fun but they are a lot faster than the Jr Sprints or the go-karts. I just finish my 3rd ever race in the 270 class. I wanna catch you up on these past few races since a lot has happened since then.

Practices

For my first ever race we were having some problems with the car and it wasn’t running as it was supposed to be. We were using the practices to our advantage and we figured out it was the ignition box. After we changed the box the car ran better than ever. I’ve never been so shocked in my life. I’m pretty sure my heart skipped a few beats. When we started the heat I was on the pole and I can’t remember where I started in the feature. The feature was going really good. I was getting used to the car and not shifting yet since it was my first time with a bunch of others, and I’m also not used to shifting at high speeds. Around the middle of the feature I went too high in the turn trying to pass the car in front of me and hit the wall in 4th gear. I tried to step on the brake but it was a little too late for that and I hit the wall and flipped. I was fine but my car not so much. We had to send it to RTS and fix the bends, dents and cracks in the chassis. A lot of my parts on my car were either bent to no return, bent a little, or just fine.

Short clip of my accident

For my second time racing I used my grandfathers 270 for racing. My practices were ok since the car was very loose in the turns I spun out a few times. I believe I spun out agin in the heat. It was working fine it wasn’t as fast as my car though but we used that to our advantage since I could practice shifting in the turns throughout the feature. My grandfathers car has a different shifting than my car. It also doesn’t have first gear which isn’t necessarily needed. I ended up in last but finished in one piece.

1st Race in Grandpas Car

For my most recent race we had swapped my motor over to my grandfathers car so I could get used to the speed; it didn’t end up working well. We ended up having electrical problems and I couldn’t get out for the 2 practices and the heat so I was last in line for the feature. For the feature I started in last and ended in last though my jets were set up for the heat and the temperature dropped significantly so my jets were not for the cold weather. It caused me to not have very good run in the race I was very loose throughout the turns. The jets also caused me to get too much fuel to my engine so it would slow down a lot before the turn and shoot out like a rocket on the straightaways. The only reason I got to race that night was because of my grandfather not giving up and for that I wanna say thank you very much!! We also had a lot of help from folks at the track like WC helping us find the issues, and Andrew letting us borrow some parts. Thank you!!

  1. Great to hear from you. It takes some time to set the car up, especially when you changed classes. You have to get use to the car. The faster you go, speed and handling go hand in hand. Do your best and stay safe. Looking forward to hear mo re e about your racing.
